The journal publishes empirical studies, theoretical papers, and review articles from authors representing the many disciplines that are involved in school mental health including: education, pediatrics, psychiatry, psychology, counseling, social work and nursing. Topics include:

* Evaluation of outcomes of school mental health prevention, interventions, and treatment

* Development and early evaluation of educational interventions and school-based prevention and treatment strategies

* Methods for measuring key constructs in school mental health for use as prescriptive, descriptive or outcome variables

* Evaluation of mediators and moderators of response to prevention and intervention methods

* Descriptions of developmental pathways and contextual variables that influence children's progression and success through their school years

* Assessment of techniques and strategies to facilitate productive parent and community involvement in the schools

* Innovative interventions that involve aspects of mental health, education, and health care for students with emotional and behavioral problems

* Dissemination, training, and fidelity issues in the transfer of school mental health techniques and strategies from research to practice

* Reviews of these topics that summarize and coalesce findings to inform next steps in research and practice.
