JotOnce - New Simple Way To Exchange Information
http://jotonce.com/

Today you can email, message, post and follow; each method with varying degrees of visibility: a single person, a selective group of people, or the whole world. Now they add a new method: jotting. Write a simple note, protect it with a password, and share it with whoever you want, all the while knowing that your message is safe and encrypted. You're working with a group of people on a project and don't want to gather everyone's email address's. Just create a jot and tell them to go to jotOnce.com and enter in the selected password. Say you have to a share a rather lengthy message that's too long to fit in a voicemail. Write a jot and leave them a voicemail saying to check jotOnce.com with the given password. Have a secret message to send to a friend but don't want to leave an email trail? Afraid of the privacy with other messaging methods? Write a jot. Set a short expiration time and tell them to check jotOnce.com with the password. This has been added to the tools section of Research Resources Subject Tracer™ Information Blog. This will be added to Privacy Resources Subject Tracer™ Information Blog.

Skepsi
http://blogs.kent.ac.uk/skepsi/

Skepsi is a peer reviewed online journal based in the School of European Culture and Languages at the University of Kent, and is entirely run by research students. Its aim is to honour the spirit of the School of European Culture and Languages, working hard to take advantage of its unique position as a crossroads in academic studies in Europe. Our hope is to develop collective thinking processes in the context of academic research, and to become a forum for European postgraduate researchers and postdoctoral scholars. Our title, Skepsi which originally means thoughtin ancient Greek symbolizes our will to explore new areas and new methods in the traditional fields of academic research in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Originality and creativity in the approach of thought and of texts are crucial for us: to enhance and to promote these aspects will be our contribution to the tremendous range of existing academic publications. Skepsi is available free of charge as an Open Access journal on the Internet. Content available in PDF format.

The Online Oral Academic Learning Community
http://www.llrx.com/features/onlineoralacademiclearning.htm

Conducting research often results in print and electronic text. It would be great to get the inside feelings of the authors and researchers. How about using oral tradition and getting to the heart of research by hearing it from the researchers through social networking? By using the podcasting method and an online learning community based on the Microsoft (MS) SharePoint platform, researchers can share their experiences and collaborate on best practices for past, current, and ongoing research. Photo Meta Data Project
http://www.photometadata.org/

Everyone involved with digital images shares the challenge of tracking and managing their rapidly expanding collections. Images with embedded information about their ownership and content are easier to find and harder to misuse. Metadata is the key to better protecting copyrights, promoting licensing, improving workflow, and managing assets. Unfortunately, it is under-used and under-supported. In partnership with the Library of Congress, the Stock Artists Alliance created the Photo Metadata Project to promote industry wide use of standardized photo metadata in every digital file. Through live events and online resources, we are committed to helping make this happen. Photographers need to embed photo metadata in their digital files, while stock distributors and end users need to take steps to ensure that this information will be preserved downstream as those files are processed, published online, copied, reproduced, licensed and archived. The mission of the SAA Photo Metadata Project is to help promote these best practices by investigating and reporting on the issues, and then developing online resources and educational events — demonstrating that embedding metadata in digital photos benefits us all and is easy to do. This initiative is made possible by the generous support of the Library of Congress, our Project Partners, a dedicated group of project contributors, and the commitment of the Stock Artists Alliance. We believe that the traditional established authorities and experts - journalists, academics, are now joined by a range of interested and capable amateurs and professionals. As this locus of authority shifts, many new authorities emerge. PeerIndex wants to become the standard that identifies, ranks, and scores these authorities -- and help them benefit from the social capital they have built up. USPTO Data Visualization Center
http://www.uspto.gov/dashboards/patents/main.dashxml

"Commerce's United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) launched a beta version of the USPTO Data Visualization Center. This tool will give the public access to important data covering USPTO patent operations in a convenient dashboard format. The patents dashboard provides more refined pendency information than was previously available, as well as other critical indicators such as the number of applications in the backlog, production, staffing and more. This information will help the entire intellectual property (IP) community to better understand the USPTO’s processes, and enable applicants to make more informed decisions about their applications, especially as the USPTO develops more opportunities for applicants to control the timing at which their applications are examined. The new dashboard, which will be updated monthly, will also be used internally by the USPTO to analyze and improve its examination process and to track the effectiveness of its improvement efforts. The USPTO also plans to add relevant data to track progress in other areas such as Trademarks and worksharing with global IP offices." Thanks to Sabrina I. Pacifici (http://www.bespacific.com/). Urban Interns - A Place To Find Part Time Assistants
http://www.urbaninterns.com/

Urban Interns is an online marketplace that connects high-growth companies with talented candidates looking for internships, part-time jobs, freelance work and contract positions. They offer all of the ease and efficiency of a full-service job board, while focusing specifically on meeting the needs of growing companies, with just one catch; if you’re looking for full-time employment, you’ll best be served elsewhere. Why? a) Small businesses are growing quickly, but full-time help is often more (or more expensive) than what they need.; b) Talented people are looking for flexible, part-time work to gain experience, increase their earnings, or both; and c) Technology makes it easy to accomplish many tasks from anywhere, anytime.
Urban Interns was created to meet the needs of the new job market. The world of work is no longer just “another day at the office.” This has been added to Employment Resources Subject Tracer™ Information Blog.

A World of Ideas - Academic Lecture Archive
http://www.lecturesarchive.com/

This site catalgues video and audio lectures on academic topics according to discipline, theoretician and topic. Most of the material here is from universities or radio stations. Links to various sites from which this material has been culled are availabe under "general sites." There are also some general sites for the specific disciplines listed under those discipline rubrics. Some of the links are directly to the video or audio data, others are to pages where the data must be sought. Both on this site and on numerous of the linked sites, you'll be well served by using your windows' search function. As always with classifications, there is a certain amount of ambiguity involved. In general, if you don't find an interdisciplinary scholar where you first look, then try another page. [A new version of the site is in the making with a general search function.] To access all of the material available here, you will need an assortment of media players: Real Player, Windows Media Player, and/or Quicktime Player, all of which are legally available free of charge online. While most of the data are in the form of streams, some download directly to your computer. If you have a slow connection, don't bother with those data. It will take much too long. Under "foreign languages," there are lectures in German and French. Some of the German sites have a mixture of lectures in English and German. This will be added to Tutorial Resources Subject Tracer™.

The British Academy is the UK’s national body for the humanities and social sciences.
