National Network of Libraries of Medicine®
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/factsheets/nnlm.html

The National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM) is a nationwide program coordinated by the National Library of Medicine (NLM). The mission of the NN/LM is to advance the progress of medicine and improve the public health by: 1) providing all U.S. health professionals equal access to biomedical information and, 2) improving the public's access to information, enabling them to make informed decisions about their health and healthcare. The Network consists of over 6,000 member organizations. These include academic medical libraries, hospital, pharmaceutical and other special health sciences libraries, information centers, public libraries and community-based organizations with an interest in promoting access to health information. Eight Regional Medical Libraries (RMLs), major institutions under contract with the National Library of Medicine, assist NLM with providing timely access to quality biomedical and health information. In addition to the RML contracts, NLM funds contracts for three national centers, the National Library of Medicine Training Center (NTC), the Outreach Evaluation Resource Center (OERC) and the Web Services Technology Operations Center. In support of the Network, the RMLs plan, promote and implement programs, services and outreach within their geographic regions as well as cross-regional collaborative activities. This will be added to Healthcare Resources Subject Tracer™.
