FILExt - Database of File Extensions
http://filext.com/

FILExt is a database of file extensions and the various programs that use them. If you know the file extension you want to learn about simply enter it into the search box on the left and click on the Search button. If it's in any of the FILExt databases the data we have on that file extension will be shown on a results page. If it's not in any of the databases you will be given a link to a page with hints on how to do further research. Don't search on terms; just file extensions and only one at a time please. There will be another search box on the results page if you have multiple searches to do. It's possible that the search will give you multiple results as there is no central registry for file extensions. If so, you will have some detective work to do; read the results page carefully as there will be hints on how to do this detective work. Journal of Genetics

Journal of Genetics
http://www.ias.ac.in/jgenet/

The Journal of Genetics is the oldest English language journal in genetics and was founded by W. Bateson and R. C. Punnett in 1910, and later edited by J. B. S. Haldane. When Haldane and his wife, Helen Spurway, emigrated to India in 1957, they brought the journal with them. Haldane edited the journal from India until his death in 1964, after which Helen Spurway continued to publish the journal with Madhav Gadgil and H. Sharat Chandra (Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore) and Suresh Jayakar (Laboratorio de Genetica Biochimica ed Evoluzionistica, Pavia) as editors. Upon Helen Spurway's death in 1977, the journal ceased publication for several years (the last issue published by her was Vol. 63 No. 2 of December 1977). In 1985, the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, resumed publication of the journal with the permission of Lady Naomi Mitchison, Haldane's sister and heir to the Haldane estate. The first issue published by the Indian Academy of Sciences was Vol. 64. No. 1 of July 1985. Since then, the journal continues to be published by the Indian Academy of Sciences as three issues each year (in April, August and December), forming one volume. The journal retains its traditional interest in evolutionary research that is of relevance to geneticists, even if not explicitly genetic in nature. Journal of Genetics covers all areas of genetics and evolution, but a contribution must have one of these subjects as its focus and be of interest to geneticists for acceptability. We publish original research papers, review articles, commentaries on papers recently published elsewhere, as well as essays of a more general nature on ideas and trends in genetics and evolutionary biology. In each issue (starting April 2004), we also publish one 'classic' paper from the Journal of Genetics archives, accompanied by a commentary placing the paper in modern context. Bite Size Standards offers concise web development tutorials, tips and tricks written by designers and developers who are passionate about web standards. Bite Size Standards was conceived by John Oxton in 2005. Busy web designers don’t always have time to read or write lengthy tutorials, but a daily “bite” of useful information, taken or given, could be good for the soul. Early in 2006 he gathered a small team of experts who—with little to no help from John—brought this multi-author blogging experiment to life. Personal Learning Environments

Personal Learning Envionments
http://octette.cs.man.ac.uk/jitt/index.php/Personal_Learning_Environments

Personal Learning Envionments are systems that help learners take control of and manage their own learning. This includes providing support for learners to a) set their own learning goals, b) manage their learning; managing both content and process, and c) communicate with others in the process of learning; and thereby achieve learning goals. There are many dimensions to a space of PLEs. One basic distinction is between those visions , or incarnations, of PLEs as pure Web 2.0 artefacts, and those running on local hardware, be that anything from a laptop to a handheld. In the latter incarnation a further distinction is between those PLEs connected to the web, and those operating offline, perhaps in a field environment or a wi-fi free hospital. Off-line usage without connecting back to the web would be possible, but would be an incredibly impovrishing use, since the common conception of a PLE is that it is to be used in pedagogic contexts that acknowledge (or even emphasise) the role of communication in learning.

Environmental Bioindicators
http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/titles/15555275.asp

Environmental Bioindicators will seek to explore the scientific bases and uses of bioindicators and biomarkers of environmental stressors as they relate directly to specific measurable effects in ecological (both floral and faunal) and human populations. Emphasis is placed on the application of these indicators as tools to help in understanding the probability that the presence of a stressor in the ambient environment may produce an adverse effect in exposed receptors or populations, the degree of harm that may be indicated, and the integration of these data to characterize environmental health. Inherent in this approach is the objective of providing an empirically-derived foundation to help define environmental health and requisite protection, management or restoration needs, and from which responsible action, including informed and cost-effective regulatory endpoints, can be developed. Environmental Bioindicators (EB) is primarily devoted to the publication of reports of significant developments in all aspects of plant or animal indicators of environmental health, including molecular to community and
landscape level investigations. The Editorial Board particularly encourages manuscripts that relate the scientific bases and uses of bioindicators and biomarkers as they relate directly to specific measurable effects in ecological and human populations. Spatial Economic Analysis
http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/titles/17421772.asp

Spatial Economic Analysis is an international economics journal aiming for the highest level of quality and esteem. It is based at the University of Cambridge and is published by two of the world's leading learned societies in the analysis of spatial economics, the Regional Studies Association and the British and Irish Section of the Regional Science Association. A spatial perspective has become increasing relevant to our understanding of economic phenomena, both on the global scale and at the scale of cities and regions. The growth in international trade, the opening up of emerging markets, the restructuring of the world economy along regional lines, and overall strategic and political significance of globalization, have re-emphasised the importance of geographical analysis. Spatial variations in economic development within cities and regions are also highly topical subjects for intellectual enquiry and have long been the focus of policy initiatives by national, regional and local governments. The awakening emphasis on space among economists has been stimulated by the emergence of a new breed of theory, namely Enew economic geography or Egeographical economics. This new theory adds a significant new dimension to the already existing theoretical tools of spatial economics, which broadly aim to analyse the role of geography and location in economic phenomenon. Additionally, spatial economic analysis is increasingly being supported by the emergence of new analytical methods, with a) An explosion of interest in new models and techniques of spatial data analysis and data visualisation (GIS), and b) Spatial econometrics becoming increasingly recognised as a valuable sub-discipline among mainstream econometricians.

Php On Trax - Rapid Application Development Made Easy
http://www.phpontrax.com/

Php On Trax (formerly Php On Rails) is a web-application and persistance framework that is based on Ruby on Rails and includes everything needed to create database-backed web-applications according to the Model-View-Control pattern of separation. This pattern splits the view (also called the presentation) into "dumb" templates that are primarily responsible for inserting pre-build data in between HTML tags. The model contains the "smart" domain objects (such as Account, Product, Person, Post) that holds all the business logic and knows how to persist themselves to a database. The controller handles the incoming requests (such as Save New Account, Update Product, Show Post) by manipulating the model and directing data to the view. In Trax, the model is handled by what's called a object-relational mapping layer entitled Active Record. This layer allows you to present the data from database rows as objects and embellish these data objects with business logic methods.
