The following terms are frequently used (and sometimes misused) in Battelle publications. Several source books are available to provide more comprehensive lists and explanations. The two that were consulted most heavily in preparing this list were Harry Shaw's Dictionary of Problem Words and Expressions (McGraw-Hill 1975) and William A. Sabin's The Gregg Reference Manual, 6th ed. (McGraw-Hill 1985) and 9th ed. (McGraw-Hill 1999). The American Heritage Dictionary, 2nd College ed. (Houghton Mifflin 1985) also contains useful discussions and examples under many entries.
