Finding aids are inventories, indexes, or guides that are created by archival and manuscript repositories to provide information about specific collections. While the finding aids may vary somewhat in style, their common purpose is to provide detailed description of the content and intellectual organization of collections. The Yale Finding Aid database currently contains EAD-encoded files as well as other types of listings that the contributing libraries have chosen not to encode in EAD. New finding aid files, and updates to existing files, are added to the Finding Aid Database monthly. For current holdings, and for the most recent update information, see Database Content Summary.
