Before you exchange sensitive information, such as a providing a credit card number, personal identification information or other confidential data, TrustWatch allows you to check that the site has been verified by a trusted third party and is using appropriate safeguarding measures. TrustWatch is a free, publicly-available utility that checks several sources and then reports back to the user a verification rating for that domain or web site. Based on a variety of factors, TrustWatch reports a rating very much like a credit bureau reports an individual's credit score.
