A bar code, also known as a UPC (Universal Product Code), is simply a tag that allows retailers to easily track sales of your product within their inventory system. When you go to sell your product at a retail establishment (i.e. Tower Records, Wherehouse Records, or Amazon.com), that establishment will have you fill out forms to get your product and billing information. On the forms, they will also ask for your Bar Code number which will act as a tag for these forms. This way, when a cashier scans your bar code in the future, the system will know to give your product credit for a sale. This site offers a fast, easy and inexpensive way to obtain your own UCC registered UPC Bar Code. This has been added to Reference Resources Subject Tracerâ„¢ Information Blog.
