Archy - A Revolution In Usability
http://rchi.raskincenter.org/aboutarchy/introduction.html

Imagine a system where your work can never be lost. Imagine a system where you can do what you want to do -- send email, write a book, make calculations, manipulate pictures -- at all times, without having to switch applications. Imagine a system where you never have to search for a file buried in a maze of folders. Imagine a system that allows you to be twenty percent faster and twenty percent more productive than any other system. That's Archy. Archy Alpha Release 1 is the product of years of research into how the mind works. It brings the power of science to interface design, with the goal of making the computer interface as simple as possible. Alpha Release 1 is the beginning of a truly humane interface that is responsive to human needs and considerate of human frailties. Today, Archy exists as a separate application on top of your current mess of desktop, applications, and files. Tomorrow, Archy will stand alone, and there will no longer be desktops, applications, or files. In place of the current paradigm that abuses users with unnecessary complexity and loss of data will be a humane environment containing only your content, and commands that modify your content. To start working, you will zoom in to the content you wish to modify, and then modify it. No launching applications, no opening files, and no waiting. This has been added to the tools section of Research Resources Subject Tracerâ„¢ Information Blog.
