The National Institutes of Health (NIH) and its employees are dedicated to upholding the highest standards for patient safety, the ethical conduct of research, and scientific excellence. It is important that NIH scientists stay involved in the scientific and health community beyond NIH to share their broad knowledge in their respective fields and advance public health. Such activities must be conducted in accordance with stringent standards and transparent policies for addressing potential conflicts of interest. NIH and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services have developed the resources below to help ensure transparency regarding outside activities and proactive management of conflict of interest issues. This has been added to Healthcare Resources 2005 Internet MiniGuide.
