Distance Education Clearinghouse

Distance Education Clearinghouse
http://www.uwex.edu/disted/home.html

Over its long history, the University of Wisconsin System has endeavored toassist persons in all corners of the state of Wisconsin, and has alsoextended its reach to different regions of the United States and the world. They have also been a leader in distance education, and in 1995, theUniversity of Wisconsin-Extension division started the Distance EducationClearinghouse website. Visitors can look through one of the numerousheadings on the website to begin their journey here, but they would do wellto start at the “Introduction to Distance Education” area. Here they canread different definitions of distance education, consider glossaries ofrelated terms, and take a look at a FAQ section, which even answers suchbasics as “Why distance education?” The other sections are equally helpful,as they contain research findings on the effectiveness of distanceeducation, pedagogical support for teachers in distance education settings, and most pragmatically perhaps, a section dedicated to those seekingfinancial aid for distance education opportunities. This will be added to Education and Distance Learning Resources 2006 Internet MiniGuide. [From The Scout Report, Copyright Internet Scout Project 1994-2006. http://scout.wisc.edu/]
