Computational and Applied Mathematics

Computational & Applied Mathematics began to be published in 1981 with the name Matematica Aplicada e Computacional. From the beginning, this journal represented the main scientific publication of SBMAC (Brazilian Society of Applied and Computational Mathematics). This society was founded in 1978. Initially, the journal published papers in Portuguese, English, French and Spanish. The publishing Editor was Editora Campos, and turned to be edited by Birkhauser in 1986. In 1998, due to the high costs of publication by Birkhauser, the Council of SBMAC decided to publish the journal en Brazil, causing a meaningful reduction of costs. However, this change provoked a temporary crisis. Birkhauser interpreted that the journal did not exist anymore, and, as a consequence, the indexation by ISI was temporary lost. In the present, we are in the process of getting this indexation again, since the Journal satisfies all the scientific requirements for it. Computational & Applied Mathematics is the natural corollary, in terms of scientific publication, to the growth of the community of Applied and Computational Mathematics in Brazil. This area is reasonably developed in the country which, at the present, exhibits many reasearchers with regular participation in the international scientific field with
consolidated reputtion. The objective of the journal is the publication of original research in Applied in Computational Mathematics, with interfaces in Physics, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Operations Research, Statistics, Social Sciences and Economy. The journal has the usual quality standards of scientific international journals and we aim high level of contributions in terms of originality, depth and relevance. CAM is currently reviewed in Mathematical Reviews.
