dbGaP - Database of Genotype and Phenotype
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=gap

The database of Genotype and Phenotype (dbGaP) was developed to archive and distribute the results of studies that have investigated the interaction of genotype and phenotype. Such studies include genome-wide association studies, medical sequencing, molecular diagnostic assays, as well as association between genotype and non-clinical traits. The advent of high-throughput, cost-effective methods for genotyping and sequencing has provided powerful tools that allow for the generation of the massive amount of genotypic data required to make these analyses possible. dbGaP provides two levels of access - open and controlled - in order to allow broad release of non-sensitive data, while providing oversight and investigator accountability for sensitive data sets involving personal health information. Summaries of studies and the contents of measured variables as well as original study document text are generally available to the public, while access to individual-level data including phenotypic data tables and genotypes require varying levels of authorization. The data in dbGaP will be pre-competitive, and will not be protected by intellectual property patents. Investigators who agree to the terms of dbGaP data use may not restrict other investigators' use of primary dbGaP data by filing intellectual property patents on it. However, the use of primary data from dbGaP to develop commercial products and tests to meet public health needs is encouraged. Neural Processing Letters
http://www.springerlink.com/content/1573-773X/

Neural Processing Letters is an international journal publishing research results and innovative ideas in all fields of artificial neural networks. Prospective authors are encouraged to submit letters concerning any aspect of the Artificial Neural Networks field including, but not restricted to, theoretical developments, biological models, new formal modes, learning, applications, software and hardware developments, and prospective researches. The journal promotes fast exchange of information in the community of neural network researchers and users. The resurgence of interest in the field of artificial neural networks since the beginning of the 1980s is coupled to tremendous research activity in specialized or multidisciplinary groups. Research, however, is not possible without good communication between people and the exchange of information, especially in a field covering such different areas; fast communication is also a key aspect, and this is the reason for Neural Processing Letters.

TruthMapping.com - A Tool To Elevate Debate
http://www.TruthMapping.com/

TruthMapping.com is a free tool that provides a focused, rational method for adversarial discussion that overcomes the limitations of standard message boards, e-mail and even conversation; it is a site for persons who believe that reasoning should be at the heart of public debate. Traditional methods of discussion including e-mail, message boards and conversation involve back and forth interactions that necessarily lead one away from the original argument. What typically remains are meandering sub-discussions and often the original points are forgotten entirely. The TruthMapping.com solution is to make participant interaction always point inward, back toward the argument itself; the argument is the context which can not be escaped. Mind, Culture, and Activity (MCA) is an interdisciplinary, international journal devoted to the study of the human mind in its cultural and historical contexts. Articles appearing in MCA draw upon research and theory in a variety of disciplines, including anthropology, cognitive science, education, linguistics, psychology, and sociology. * Section 1 features articles of general theoretical or empirical importance that go through a regular peer review process.

* Section 2 includes symposia that are built around a central article or book addressing important theoretical themes. Commentaries are invited from scholars from different intellectual traditions and cultural contexts.

* Section 3 contains informal communications or renderings in alternative genres, such as work-in-progress reports, summaries of e-mail discussions, poetry, and more.

Tick - Track Time and Hit Budgets
http://www.tickspot.com/

In the service industry your hours are your inventory. Lose track of them—they spoil. Hit your budgets—move more inventory. Tick gives you the information you need, when you need it. It’s simply that Tick allows everyone to know how much inventory is left on the shelves. If it’s getting thin, everyone knows it. If there’s extra, they know that too. Tick encourages and empowers team members by disseminating the critical information to the entire team. It’s not tracking time simply for the sake of tracking it. It’s tracking time with the end goal of nailing your budget. It allows people to know exactly where they stand, where they can lend a hand or when they need to work faster. When you’re willing to view hours as inventory, and everyone has a key to the storeroom, it will be much easier to produce products on time and on budget. That’s important. And that’s why Tick matters. This has been added to the tools section of Research Resources Subject Tracer™ Information Blog.

Neural Development
http://www.neuraldevelopment.com/

Neural Development is a peer-reviewed open access, online journal, which will feature studies that use molecular, cellular, physiological or behavioural methods to provide novel insights into the mechanisms that underlie the formation of the nervous system. Neural Development aims to discover how the nervous system arises and acquires the abilities to sense the world and control adaptive motor output. The field includes analysis of how progenitor cells form a nervous system during embryogenesis, and how the initially formed neural circuits are shaped by experience during early postnatal life. Some studies use well-established, genetically accessible model systems, but valuable insights are also obtained from less traditional models that provide behavioural or evolutionary insights. Neural Development considers the following types of articles:

* Research articles: reports of data from original research. These articles will form the major content of the journal.
* Reviews: comprehensive, authoritative, descriptions of any subject within the scope of the journal.
* Methodology articles: present a new experimental method, test or procedure. The method described may either be completely new, or may offer a better version of an existing method. Methodology articles will only be accepted for publication if they represent a significant advance in the field.

Similarly professionals such as biologists and medical specialists need advanced information processing equipment to do their job. When we say Intelligent Information Processing we refer to the smart way of hiding, compression, filtering, analysis, and recognition of digital data, such as: a) digital speech and audio signals, digital video, and multimedia signals, encountered in telecommunications and consumer electronics; b) digital images, encountered in all kinds of industrial applications; and c) biochemical measurements of DNA and proteins, encountered in the field of genomics and proteomics. The research and education of the 10 permanent faculty members and approximately 30 Ph.D./postdoctoral researchers of the ICT Group reflects the above spectrum of data and processing. The research themes range from multimedia processing and content management, to pattern recognition, cryptology, and bioinformatics. Education ranges from (stochastic) signal processing to data analysis and cryptography. The Information and Communication Theory Group is in the Department of Mediamatics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science (EEMCS) of the Delft University of Technology. The group is involved in B.Sc. and M.Sc. courses in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Media and Knowledge Engineering, and Bioinformatics.

Gene Expression and Network LABoratory (GENLAB)

Gene Expression & Network LABoratory (GENLAB)
http://www.genlab.tudelft.nl/

Now that first generation micro-array technology is becoming standard equipment for more and more bio-molecular groups, the development of tools for analyzing micro-array data is starting to become increasingly more important. Many groups have invested enormous effort in acquiring accurate and reproducible measurements and in how to manage the acquired pieces of raw data in a transparent way. The major challenge that remains, however, is how to analyze these huge sources of information and how to present the found results. GENLAB is a software environment suited for the analysis of biological data. The aim of GENLAB is to collect algorithms that support users in all steps of the analysis process and to allow users to select among many alternative algorithms for each of these steps. This gives the user the unique opportunity to get a thorough understanding of the possibilities and limitations of each of the alternative techniques by easily comparing their results. In many cases such understanding requires enormous effort if learned by studying the mathematical description of the techniques alone. Currently available tools typically focus on a single aspect or provide hardly any alternatives. This has been added to Biological Informatics Subject Tracer™ Information Blog.

WiredDeals
http://www.WiredDeals.com/

Deals are collected from the forums every 5 minutes. They are sorted based on how their rating changed over time and then displayed on the New Deals page with fastest growing deals on top. The ratings we use are calculated based on the number of positive votes the deals receive in the forums when they are posted. Popularity is one more attribute that can help you spot a hot deal. It is calculated based on the deal age and also based on how many people have viewed the deal posting in the forums. Deal rating and its popularity are often unrelated. While the former reflects conscious decision to vote the deal up or down the latter simply reflects how many people the deal has attracted and how fast. Use these attributes at your discretion and remember that we are just providing tools - only you yourself can find your deal. This has been added to ShoppingBots Subject Trafcer™ Information Blog.

http://www.jpanafrican.com/index.htm

The Journal of Pan African Studies is an interdisciplinary scholarly journal devoted to a synthesis of African world community studies and research that works to ask questions and seek answers to critical contemporary issues, based on an affirmative African centered logic and language of liberation. The infinite dynamics of the African ethos warrant discussion, thus this journal represents an attempt to address that reality with informed minds. The Journal of Pan African Studies seeks articles or creative work that:

* present original research methods/theory,
* add to a body of research,
* announce research findings,
* guide future research,
* explore theories,
* distribute new knowledge,
* present new ideas,
* invite discussion,
* introduce research reviews,
* and new Pan African Studies centered terminology.

Cirilab Knowledge Generation Engine™ (KGE)
http://www.cirilab.com/

Billions of pages of unstructured text exist on the web, in corporate file systems, and content management databases around the world. And millions of pages are being added daily in many different types including WordPerfect, Word, HTML, PDF and many others. While existing search engines can help us find thousands of “hits” in less than one second, the question of how relevant that information is and how we review it remains a huge challenge. This is the Information Overload Tiger. After years of research in Knowledge Management and Information Triage, Cirilab has released the Cirilab Knowledge Generation Engine™ (KGE) which is at the heart of a series of products designed to “read” unstructured text and provide insights into that text that was never before possible. Whether you are an individual consumer or a member of a large enterprise, Cirilab’s “Right Click To Knowledge Series” ™ of products is right for you.
